The Fijian National Women’s team recently visited Valentine Sports Park, home to Football NSW, as part of their preparations for the upcoming Pacific Games in July.
It was the second time in as many weeks, a Fijian national side used Football NSW’s newly development facilities at Glenwood as Frank Farina’s Under 20s squad also used the venue as preparations for the current FIFA U20s World Cup taking shape in New Zealand.
Fijian women’s coach Charlene Lockington praised the venue and highlighted that the accommodation, meals and playing fields were perfect for the team to create an intensive training camp.
Games against Sutherland, NWS Koalas, Belconnen (ACT) and Macarthur Rams ensured what was taught on the training field could be tested in match situations.
It is the first overseas tour for the Women’s team who are now considered serious contenders to take out the Pacific Games tournament in July.
