True to its status as the Home of Football in NSW, Valentine Sports Park (VSP) recently played host to the Wellington Phoenix Women’s team in the midst of their 2024/25 Ninja A-League season.

Following a challenging start to the season, the Phoenix utilised VSP’s turf fields and training facilities over three days as part of the team’s preparations for a Unite Round match against Adelaide United.

It turned out to be a successful formula with the Wellington outfit going on to register their first victory of the season, defeating Adelaide 1-0.

The Phoenix have been welcome guests at VSP on numerous occasions in recent years, most notably during the COVID-hit 2020 and 2021 A-League seasons when the Men’s team utilised the facility as their primary training base in Australia.

With three pristine turf surfaces and two all-weather synthetic fields, VSP continues to welcome national teams and professional clubs on its premises, with teams from the likes of Sydney FC, Macarthur Bulls, Perth Glory and Newcastle Jets utilising the facilities in 2024 alone.
